Why Blog?

I'm a 22 year college graduate, documenting the things in my life that I want to always remember. The big things, the little things, the crazy things, the everyday things. It gets a bit random at times, and sometimes I like to ponder on the craziness of life. There's nothing earth-shattering here, but I like to think it's all fun to read. Read, leave me comments, ask questions, enjoy.

Nerves... After 13 Years

After taking piano lessons for 13 years and playing flute for almost 10, and having to perform on a regular basis on each of those instruments, you'd think that a five minute performance of two short songs on my primary instrument wouldn't be cause for fear, right? Wrong. I had my piano jury this morning, and it was literally five minutes long: walk in, say hi, sit down, play two pieces, and I was done. And yet, I was really nervous. I hate that. But the good news is that I'm almost done for the semester. One class left, two finals, and a bunch of work in Campus Ministry and I'm out of here. Two weeks from today, I'll be settling back in at the cabin for the summer. Crazy. Love you all!

Busy and Lazy and Something In Between

I have passed my busiest day that should occur until May 8th (which is when we have Commencement Masses; two in a row starting early in the morning). I have also passed probably my laziest day until then too. Tuesday was the busy one: a 30 minute presentation in my 8am class, a big test in my 1pm class, and another, 20 minute, presentation in my night class. Plus work and a trip to Perkins at midnight. Yesterday was the lazy one. All I really did was work; I worked for a few hours in the morning and got to play with my boss's new daughter for a while too! I fell asleep on the futon around 7:30, and didn't wake up for an hour. I was going to crawl into bed around 9, but Matt called, so we talked for a while and made plans for tonight. Erin and I ended up talking from about 10 until 1am about everything under the sun, and then I slept for a few hours before I got up for my first four hours at work of the day. (I'm going back in under half an hour for our end of the year party) There's nothing too new in my life; I'm trying to get things figured out for Commencement Masses and next year, wrapping up this year, and seeing people for the last time before summer. I've decided that I'm going to teach myself to play guitar this summer: my boss is going to find one for me, and then come fall I can start playing in church. Okay, that's really all I've got. I'm sure I'll be back on here sometime soon while I'm trying to avoid studying for my two finals and then again after them to avoid packing my room up. Love to all.

Bittersweet

In 10 days and half an hour, I shall be done forever with my sophomore/junior year of college... only one year left! It's kind of scary to think about that. Our room is slowly but surely being emptied of our things, and we are starting to have "one last dinner" with friends that we don't get to see very often. All of our classes are wrapping up with final projects/papers/tests/presentations, and we are preparing ourselves for that wonderful time that is finals week. We are watching out our windows as parents come and pick up their daughters' things and as everyone tries to enjoy the weather (not so much today) and get their homework done at the same time. The libraries are filling up, and so are the computer labs in the dorms. My friends are making their study abroad traveling plans, and I'm getting ready to say good-bye to some of my favorite people for the next eight months. Facebook walls are starting to fill up with notes from high school friends, wanting to make plans for the summer, and from college friends who want to try and get together at least once or twice this summer... not like last year. Work is crazy busy, trying to plan for Commencement Masses and cleaning things out for next year. It's such a bittersweet time of the year. I hate leaving here but I don't want to continue the craziness that is school life anymore either. I'm looking forward to a summer up north, and to all of the things that I have going on. It's just hard to know that next year will be my last year as a college student and then it's out into the real world I go. In 10 days and half an hour, my summer begins. In 10 days and about nine hours, I say good-bye to one of my best friends, who will be leaving for military stuff for the whole summer. In 11 days, I say good-bye to my roommate. In 12, it's my other best friend at school. Well, I'd better get to work so that I can get it all done! xo

Sunshine!

What a beautiful day! I'm sitting outside of my dorm building trying to do some homework, and I'm loving it. We only have a few weeks left up here, and then I'll be able to forget about homework and just enjoy the wonderful weather.... at the cabin!! Well, the homework is not going so well, but I'm definitely about to fall asleep laying out here in the sun. Luckily, I don't have to leave for class for another couple of hours, so I'm going to just give up on the homework and catch a nap. Hope that everyone can get outside for a little while, especially if you have kids. xo

Procrastination Round 1,000,000

Well, I don't want to do my homework, so I'm back again. Time is flying by and I can't believe how much I have to do and how much of it I haven't done. But the weather is beautiful, and I only have two and half weeks left until I can enjoy it fully. Except for my online class that I'm taking this summer. But that shouldn't be that bad; I'm kind of looking forward to it.

Other things I'm looking forward to:

* The TWINS game on Friday
* My family coming up on Saturday
* Birthday Brunch with my roomie on Sunday
* Turning in my (hopefully) last math assignment of the year tomorrow
* Hanging out at St. John's with Jordan Craig Wetter (if he doesn't ditch me again) tomorrow night
* My summer job
* The sophomore semi-formal dance next Friday
* Joe's prom in two weeks
* Turning in my applications for my degrees
* .... I think that's all for now

I hope you are all having a chance to enjoy this wonderful weather. Love to all!

Unfortunate Incidents

And it's back to school, yet again. Easter break was good; jury duty got pushed off, so I had a few days at home to be lazy and get very very little of the homework done that I needed to. It was good to see everyone again, and to be able to spend yesterday with my Dad's side of the family, celebrating Easter. I packed up late this morning, and headed back to school.... only to make it 11 miles and blow a tire. Since I was coming back up here, I chose not to get dressed in real clothes, so I was standing on the side of the road trying to get the plastic coverings off the lug nuts in my pj shorts and my hair piled on top of my head when a nice guy stopped and helped me change my tire. It was really kind of him to do so, although it did upset me because I could have done it on my own if I had been able to get the dang plastic covers off. Sigh. Anyway, four weeks left of class and I've got a bunch to do before I can leave. Now to find the motivation to do it...

One Paragraph Covering a Lot of Ground

Last week was indeed crazy. I look back on it now and can't believe how much stuff got fit into those five short days. This weekend was a reflection of how tired I was: I did absolutely nothing. I hate it when I have weekends like that, so I'm not very happy about it. This week is starting off okay: I've got a midterm in Math on Thursday that I'm studying for, and that's going well, so I'm pleased. I ran into a friend this morning that I haven't seen in a while, and that was good, too. We took a class together last semester, and I miss seeing him. And after work this morning, I went to grab some lunch and found to my great surprise and pleasure that today Gorecki is serving white cupcakes with bunnies and chickies piped onto them! I was going to take a picture so you could see how cute they are, but I didn't want to wait to reach a camera before I ate my cupcake. In other news: I have been called to report for jury duty next week. I have to be at the Milaca courtroom by 8:00 am next Thursday, which just so happens to be my first day of Easter break. I'm kind of bummed that my Easter break will be eaten up by this, but at the same time, I'm kind of excited to serve on a jury. We'll see if I actually get to. Well, I have to go get ready for service learning now, so I must go. Sorry this is a total mess of a post, but I just wanted to get on here and let y'all know I'm still alive. Love to all, and I'll be back when I have something interesting to say.
